I’ve known Logan for 9 years now which is why I was so ecstatic when he called to tell me the good news…. and that the wedding was conditional on my availability ;).  Cindy and Logan, who live SLC, flew into town to stay with us for a few days and try some “experimental photography”.   We had some serious fun in water despite losing a few items including an Iphone, and Cindy’s white heels.  Our goal was to climb a nearby water tower, but it seems the authorities have smartened up locked it down – but I’ve always been a believer that the best pictures are in how you make the most of your environment.   It’s amazing how much you can do within 5 min from my house in Mission Viejo.    It was GREAT getting to know Cindy and Cathy and I couldn’t be happier for this perfect match – FYI – Reluctantly, Cindy and Logan were blindly set up by a relative (Dentist who thought his patient Cindy had nice teeth).  Looking forward to flying out to their wedding in Bountiful Utah come August!

Noel Starr had always wanted 4 simple things for her future proposal….  Laguna Beach, Sunset, Fireworks, and a professional photographer.  Friday night Cameron flew down from Utah to fulfill her childhood dream and surprise the love of his life with a ring…   It was one of the most challenging and awesome shoot situations I’ve had…  Long shutter, 3 light sources to balance, a 3 second window with no opp for adjustments…  and it had to be EPIC.   Glad I was part of the equation and that it actually worked!! Congratulations you guys!!

Donny & Suzie’s last minute wedding (I had one days notice) was definitely one of my most memorable weddings! This gorgeous couple had a simple elopement at the Laguna Hills Clerks office and the we hit the hills near newport beach for a amazing sunset portrait session.  Grateful i got to be their witness AND their photographer!  We’ll be doing another country theme shoot in the spring…  can’t wait to hang with Mr and Mrs Robins again!  Oh and if you think they look familiar you may be a country dance fan and have seen Donny Robins dance videos.  These guys win some pretty serious competitions together.  http://truecountrydance.com/

ONE + ONE  = 4?  When  Ashley, Jeff, Esther and Jason approached us to shoot their engagement session, we were stoked.  When they asked that we shoot it on the same day at the same time, we accepted the challenge.  Oh and did we mention Jeff and Jason are IDENTICAL twins.  Double E-sessions were harder than I thought… double the ideas and half the time!   It was super windy the day of the shoot and our first location ended up being a “bust” so with props in tow (picture 4 beach cruisers strapped to a mini van driving at warp speed down the freeway) we all caravanned over to the Irvine Fields, it couldn’t have been a more AWESOME “plan B”.  We swapped every 10 minutes between couples (thank you to Sarah Rico who was a blessing to have help me on the shoot).  It feels like two different shoots although we wanted to get the best shots for both… Regardless of the challenge it really was a blast. I’m still laughing about this skipping double mint shot. Only wish we had more time to do the other 5 ideas we had!AJEJ414-Edit When we meet with couples, we always ask them to tell us a little bit about their “story”.  We have such RAD clients that it’s always super awesome to hear how they met and ultimately brought them to an epic Burnt Exposure shoot.

In Ashley’s words (and we tend to agree), as identical twins it was only fitting that Jeff and Jason would each find true love just two months apart. Esther and Ashley were already friends when Esther and Jason began dating so when Ashley started dating Jeff, it gave new meaning to the word double dates and before long they became the self proclaimed “Quad.”

Jeff and Jason are both musicians, so when it came time to propose they knew they not only had to do it at the same time but it had to be nothing short of amazing (as if a twin proposal wasn’t epic enough…clearly they are over achievers)!   So how does one…err we mean TWO go about pulling off the proposal of the century?  Why during a performance in front of 3,000 young single adults at a church conference in Arizona State University’s Gammage Auditorium OFCOURSE!  They were slotted to play on Saturday night after Mitt and Ann Romney would address the attendees, and would be followed by performances from Brooke White, of American Idol Fame, and Youtube star Alex Boye.  Talk about PRESSURE!  Needless to say, they pulled it off, even with Ashley running things behind the scenes!  You can check out their RAD proposal that was posted on KSL News in Salt Lake City, UT here  or on Jeff and Jason’s youtube channel

We had such an great time shooting these FANTASTIC FOUR skipping, biking, bubble blowing and even frog kissing!

Meet Janica and John.  They are getting married and well, we love them.  Maybe not as much as they love each other, but it’s a pretty close race.  These two met in Utah where Janica was working at a tanning salon.  Hey, a lady’s got to do what a lady’s got to do to get some sun!  John fancies himself as somewhat of a “smooth operator” so when he went to get his “sun on” he flashed his pearly whites and boyish smile (as seen below) thinking small talk would do the trick.  Janica, being the polite lady she is, obliged and engaged but John wasn’t fooling anyone least of all his lovely muse.  He knew he was going to have to bring out the big guns if was going to leave an impression in hopes to take their tanning bed small talk to the next level.  One day after tanning and usual game of “how you doin’s”, Slick Rick err we mean John, left only to return about 30 mins later to look for his phone that he, A-HHHEMM “left”.  Clearly it was an attempt to spend quality time with Janica, after all, nothing sparks the “spark” like being on your hands and knees and rummaging through drawers looking around for a cell phone right?  Finally Janica offered to call his cell phone to hear it ring.  Alas, there was no ring because it ended up being in his car the whole time, and THERE ladies and gentlemen is the BIG GUNS to John’s master plan.  Long story short, he got the number and the girl.  Good on ya’ John…Good on ya!

We all met up at one of our favorite spots to shoot, the Irvine Fields at Quail Creek Park.  The light and views here are EPIC and these two are amazingly fun!  Now on with images!JJ014-Edit-bw JJ041 JJ053Janica has some of the most piercing blue eyes we have ever seen.  Our camera’s obviously began an instant love affair.
JJ058JJ064 JJ084We were super stoked when they brought their two gorgeous pups out for a few shots.  Seriously, these dogs couldn’t be cooler and they totally hammed it up for the cameras.
JJ097 JJ102 JJ110 JJ115 JJ127After the more casual portion of the session, they wanted to spice things up a bit…and SPICE they did.  Taco Bell’s FIRE sauce ain’t got nothing on these two!

The original idea was to use only the white and blue balloons, but it was a bit windy that day so setting a world record in finishing a Rubik’s Cube would have been easier that untangling the strings so we just left it.  What a beautiful mistake it turned out to be, we absolutely LOVED the playfulness the pop of red brought.
JJ212 JJ222-Edit “ummm excuse me, I seemed to have lost my phone…would you mind helping me look for it?”JJ235“WHY YES…YES I CAN!”JJ240 JJ247 JJ255-Edit This must be the “Smooth Operator” look that John won Janica over with 😉JJ265-EditOr maybe it was this one…
JJ272 For serious though, could these two be ANY CUTER?JJ295 Despite the winter chill in the air, these two stuck in out in the name art  and stayed a bit longer so we could get some night shots against the dark sky and tall grass…and we CANNOT thank them enough.  Thanks to Sarah Rico for helping out and for bringing this SICK vintage television set too, we only wish we had more time to use it! JJ310 JJ300-Edit-2-stay-tunedThank you Janica and John for bringing the SUPER FUN to your engagement session.  We have such a great time trekking around the fields with chairs, balloons and even a television.  We cannot wait to capture your incredible wedding at the South Coast Winery!
