Hanging out for the afternoon at crystal cove with April and John was such a treat.  April was one of the first people I had met when i moved out to CA many years ago so meeting her fiance for the first time was really exciting…  especially because John is only here for short periods of time as he is a Naval Ship Navigator stationed in Japan.    I asked April for the story of how they met, and here is her version of the story – Although I remember some spicy details from when I first heard it that I’m sure April omitted;)

“We first got to know each other at a Halloween church activity. We were carving pumpkins. John asked for my number and we went on our first date the next Saturday. We went to lunch near the Orange Circle in Downtown Orange, Ca and then did some perusing through some vintage shops in the area. We hit it off right away and continued to date throughout the month. We both knew that John was scheduled to move to Japan at the end of the year but decided that we won’t worry about it and would just try to have fun while he was still here.
He came home with me for Thanksgiving and met the family. Then I went with him to DC to go to the Army-Navy football game and he showed me around his old stomping grounds in Annapolis. The end of the year came and John was ready to head out to Japan. He was always one step ahead of me in our relationship and he told me that he wanted to marry me before he left. I was still unsure.
It wasn’t until he was gone that i realized how much I really loved him and hated being apart from him. I visited him in February and I knew that I didn’t want to be apart from him anymore. We were able to ‘keep the relationship’ alive through Skype, email, and phone calls. I went out to visit again in April. John proposed on Friday the 13th. I was super surprised. Although I knew that he wanted to marry me, I had no idea he had gotten a ring, talked to my dad, or anything like that. It was a very pleasant surprise. In case you were wondering, I said yes.
Following the wedding on September 29, I will be moving out to Japan and I couldn’t be more excited to start a new adventure with John (and to finally live in the same hemisphere again).”
Can’t wait to see them at the end of the month!
